Dr. Cole Johnson
The Parable of the Merry-Go-Round (and other good news)
Dr. Johnson is as unique as he is intriguing...some things you may not know about one of all our favorite Orthodontic speakers:
He loves children. Like, probably too much. He has 8 kids of his own...at least as far as we know.
His pastimes include hanging out at crosswalks, volunteering as a photographer for local swim teams, and slowly smelling bottles of fancy shampoo in the aisles of Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
Dr. Johnson has an array of talents! He Leads a men’s tumbling troupe and boasts the ability to eat his weight in birdseed. This frisky Capricorn wields a firm command of the Klingon, Na’avi, as well as MS Dos languages. He was the Multnomah County Athletic Club’s 2012 Pilates Instructor of the Year and is a 3-Time Mavis Beacon ‘Shirts n’Skins Speed-Typing’ Champion.
Dr. Johnson considers his greatest accomplishment to be the time he ate his standard lunch of 1/2 cup skim Cottage Cheese off the stomach of a guy who kind of looks like well-known B-list actor, Jason Bateman.
While the ups and downs of life can feel like a roller coaster, how you feel about them is more like a Merry-Go-Round. Join Dr. Johnson to learn about how to navigate your mindset, emotions, and outlook during life’s ups and downs and fighting the centrifugal forces of our own anxiety.
Dr. Anil Idiculla
Calm in the Storm
An internationally recognized speaker, Dr. Idiculla graduated #1 in his dental school and then completed his orthodontic residency at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Colorado with the ultimate vision of building a new generation of orthodontic experience that is centered around unparalleled communication, clinical excellence, and inspiring philanthropy. He is now blessed to have 4 incredible Colorado offices, 1 California location, and 1 non-profit location overseas in Jinja, Uganda.
How do we remain calm in the storm, but not lose who we are? How do we remain calm in the storm, but continue to learn and grow as people and practice owners? The storm we currently find ourselves surrounded by will eventually pass, but will we be better or worse off than before? Dr. Anil will ask these questions and more in a lecture focused on our mindsets, mental health, and the ways we can lift each other up to survive this tumultuous moment together.

Dr. Nicole Wax
Monitoring Your Practice From A Bird’s-Eye View
Hi, my name is Nicole Wax. I am an Orthodontist in Michigan. I attended Michigan State University for undergrad, The Ohio State University for Dental School, and the University of Detroit Mercy for Orthodontic residency. I opened my practice right out of residency in my home town of ~4,000 people. We have accomplished monstrous goals and achievements in a short prior of time. I have a huge passion for COMMUNITY and I love to share my success stories with others as a form of motivation and inspiration. I think that success comes from clarity in your goals, a clear plan of how to achieve your goals, and an unwavering commitment to the hard work that comes with it. A team that is focused and motivated for the practice vision is instrumental to reach your highest potential.
Creating a practice structure to make it possible for you, the practice owner, to assess your business from a bird's-eye view is critical to make strategic decisions of how to direct your practice and team to move your practice forward. Having a leadership team that can be focused on the more microscopic level is an imperative part of allowing you to stay focused in the areas only you have the ability to assess and plan. A strong leadership team by your side helps the practice move quickly, and more enjoyably, and helps achieve your goals and visions. You must become clear with your practice goals and vision and then be there to coach your team along the way.

My goal is share how we have been weathering this, being close to the NY area epicenter, but more importantly help our colleagues understand that there is no "right" way. There are no "best practices" for this. We will get through this, but also lets discuss some thoughts on how dentistry is changing and some things we can all start thinking about amidst this crisis.

Often, we want to learn a skill or implement a new system into our practice, but we just do not have the time. Change can be disruptive and uncomfortable even when it results in an improvement. Many of us have time on our hands with our practices closed. We may even return to a practice that is not as busy as we like. We can use this situation to our advantage in creating positive change.
